This drug also treats genital herpes and to avoid future flare-ups. In HIV infected people, this drug is used to treat for both genital and oral herpes.
Drug Contraindications
This drug should not be administered to patients <18 years of age. It also may not be applied in patients with ophthalmic zoster. The safety has not been studied in immune-compromised patients except for the treatment of recurrent orolabial or genital herpes in HIV-infected patients.
